An innocuous lie ruined the life of an innocent man

Sahaj was a happy-go-lucky character in life and led a very simple life with his parents. Having grown up in a small town, he had simple values of life which he preserved and got married via arranged marriage.

He was very happy after marriage and things were smooth between him and his wife Riddhima until she conceived within a month of the marriage. Sahaj was extremely elated at the news of he going to be a father of a child.

However, his happiness was short-lived as Riddhima’s grandmother brainwashed her against her in-laws and led her to believe that if she gives birth to a baby girl, they will kill the baby. Riddhima started fighting with her in-laws over this who were in for a shock as they were not aware of what was going on.

Riddhima started demanding that Sahaj should not stay with his parents and that he should take his share from the ancestral property and move out with her. Sahaj didn’t know how to deal with the situation and did not accede to Riddhima’s demand. As a result, Riddhima deserted him and started staying with her parents.

All efforts by Sahaj to contact her were also failed by his in-laws and Sahaj was not able to get any updates about the pregnancy of Riddhima or the child birth. When the child was born, Sahaj was not informed properly.

When Sahaj and his parents went to see the newborn, they were insulted by Riddhima and her in-laws. His mother-in-law put the newborn baby in sun just to hurt Sahaj. It was a baby girl and she got sunburn being kept in the bright sun. Sahaj and his parents could not tolerate all this and left the place.

After that, any attempt made by Sahaj to contact his daughter was met with a demand for share in his ancestral property and Sahaj was constantly abused by his family. When, all his attempts to meet his daughter failed, Riddhima filed a false complaint of dowry harassment against Sahaj and his parents. Sahaj was not in the town that time, so the police arrested his mother and detained her illegally forcing Sahaj to come to the police station.

With great difficulty, the police released his mom. It has now been almost a year and Sahaj’s family is still trying to get bail in a false complaint filed by his wife against him and his old parents. He is also implicated in a false case of domestic violence wherein his wife has demanded Rs. 75000 per month from him as maintenance. Also, Riddhima has caught hold of Sahaj’s locker containing his family’s jewelry.

Sahaj’s fight is not at all Sahaj (easy) and all this because of an innocuous lie by the grandmother of his wife.
