Young boy charged with rape for loving a girl

Varun was a simple young boy. He was studying in class 12 when he got attracted towards his classmate Pallavi. Pallavi was a pretty young lady and the attraction was from her side too. They stared meeting, going out, chatting. Slowly they came to know it was not mere attraction they were falling in love. Varun used to think about Pallavi all day and Pallavi was in thoughts of Varun all the time. One day Varun decided to tell Pallavi about his love towards her.

 Varun called Pallavi and asked her to meet him in a nearby coffee shop. Pallavi came, she was looking very beautiful. Varun greeted her and asked her what her thoughts about him are. She was surprised by the question. Varun thought of making it all easier for her, he said those three magical words,”I love you Pallavi.” Pallavi blushed and said me too. Those three words changed their lives. They were very happy together, but studies were important. They thought they will study properly to have a secured future. Two lovely passed and their love for each other was growing day by day.

Everyone around them knew about this affair. The school friends, the neighbors started talking about them. Gradually this affair reached their homes. Varun and Pallavi were of different castes. And their affair was not socially accepted. Varun’s father was not very happy, Pallavi was of upper caste. Varun convinced his father and assured him that he will make his career first then think of settling his life with Pallavi. Varun’s father was worried about the caste issue, “Varun, Pallavi’s parents will be very angry if they came to know.” “Do not worry dad I will fix everything”, Varun asserted.

But Varun’s father was right. Pallavi’s parents got furious when they came to know about this affair. Pallavi’s father called up Varun and asked him to stay away from his daughter. Pallavi became very sad it was not possible for them to stay apart. Both dreamt of a life together and were madly in love, how can they stay away? Varun secretly called Pallavi at a place only known to them. They met and hugged each other; Pallavi was crying continuously, Varunconsoled her. He said her parents are upset because they came to know suddenly and slowly they will accept it. They spent some time there and decided not to meet for some days. They thought of convincing their respective families. Varun kissed Pallavi’s forehead and they left. While they were talking a neighbor of Pallavi saw them. He went to Pallavi’s place and informed her parents.

When Pallavi entered her home her father asked her, “Where have you gone?” She said, “Library.” Father gave her a one tight slap and asked her again tell the truth. Pallavi broke down and accepted that she went to meet Varun. Now mother gave her one slap and scolded her that when they asked them to stay away how dare she meet him? Her parents thought of giving Varun a lesson, they were furious on the fact that in spite of scolding Varun met their daughter. Pallavi’s mother asked her father to file a case on Varun. “Which case?” asked the father? “Of course rape case” mother said. “But it will give a bad name to our daughter“, father had a point. Mother said,” we will see it later, right now it is important to stop this boy.”

A rape case was filed on Varun he was arrested immediately. Varun and his parents were shocked and surprised on it. They were pleading to the police that the girl is in love with the boy and it is not rape. Here at Pallavi’s’ place she was scolded by her parents to give statement against Varun. Pallavi also thought this was the only way to come out of this mess and live a normal life. Varun was presented before the magistrate; he believed that Pallavi will say the truth and he will not be sent to jail. Pallavi came to the court, Varun was very happy to see her. Pallavi did not make an eye contact with Varun. Lawyer asked her when she was raped by him, Pallavi replied a year back. Varun was shattered to hear this, he shouted you liar tell the truth please. Varun was asked to keep quiet, Pallavi said she was raped by Varun and it was enough to send him in Tihar. Varun was sent to Tihar, his parents did not leave hope. His father asked court to order a medical test of Pallavi and also asked to present evidences. Pallavi denied for medical test, could not present any evidence either.

Bail papers were prepared for Varun’s release. But all of sudden a rape hysteria grabbed India, one girl was raped in capital and all men were considered rapists now. Pressure on police and judiciary was created for strict action on rape accused. Varun’s bail was cancelled he was sent back to Tihar. His parents had become hopeless now. Varun went into deep depression, it was then he met some young men like him in Tihar. These young decided to teach other men and joined the education wing of Tihar. These amazing men instead of going crazy searched a life inside jail. Varun’s and his parents were still fighting the case.

After ten months of ordeal Varun won his case, he got the benefit of doubt. He came out of the jail and started his life again. His life will never be normal as there are questioning eyes wherever he goes. But he is a fighter and will fight this too. These days he is regular in the activism and has started laughing again.
