Man runs into deep psychotic depression dealing with crazy and abusive wife

A young and enthusiastic Shubham Verma gets married to Vedika Malhotra through a matrimonial site. It's Vedika's family that approaches Shubham seeing his lucrative profile with a high paying overseas job.

Professional commitments require that post marriage, Shubham must travel back to his workplace outside India while Vedika must stay back till her VISA formalities are completed. This was communicated to Vedika's family prior to marriage and they apparently showed no objection to it.

However, post marriage, Vedika, made this as an issue and her parents too supported her in it. Shubham was accused of leaving Vedika behind and living a "Free life" after marriage. Shubham tried his level best to reason it out with Vedika and her parents only to get abused by them verbally and emotionally in return. As Shubham struggles to come back to India while managing his professional commitments, Vedika has made his parents life hell with her mood swings, extraordinary anger and tantrums.

Suspecting, Shubham's father gets her consulted with a psychologist who confirms mental instability of Vedika, a fact hidden by her and her family at the time of marriage. Shubham's father hides this fact from Shubham thinking he might not be able to take the shock. Some months down the line Shubham comes back home only to find the mess his parents are living in.

He takes a long break from career and gets the VISA arranged for his wife and takes her back along with him. Few years pass and they both have a son. However, Shubham's life has been made hell with Vedika's extremely chaotic mood swings, violent bouts of unreasonable anger and weird social behavior. Shubham sets thinking that this cannot be a normal person's behavior and finally discovers his wife is schizophrenic.

Shubham's career gets affected and so does get affected his son's upbringing as the mother is simply not fit to take care of the child. All efforts of Shubham to talk sense into his wife fail and he does not get any support from his in-laws as well. Knowing the fact, that their daughter is not healthy psychologically, they get her married to an unsuspecting and innocent Shubham who is at his wit's ends dealing with her erratic behavior.

Spending years struggling with his mentally unstable wife, Shubham himself develops deep signs of depression and also undergoes a nervous breakdown which forces him to take a sabbatical from his work. Back home, his in-laws constantly pressurize Shubham and always accuse him of not taking enough care of his wife (their daughter), while Shubham has been spending money like anything on getting her treated while she resists treatment and also throws her expensive medicines into toilet.

This double pressure on Shubham and the fact that he was tolerating all the abuse alone, just for the sake of his child and in order to save his marriage, ultimately took a serious toll on this physical and emotional health. Shubham was well aware that the conservative Indian society would not allow him to separate from his wife and lead a happy life and thus went on tolerating the abuse beyond comprehension.
